National Weather Service – Significant Spring Flood Threat for the Red River Basin

Red River of the North residents can expect a significant chance of spring flooding due to the wet fall, heavy winter snow pack, and expected cooler and snowier conditions for the remainder of winter.  According to the National Weather Service:

  • The threat for significant, impactful, snowmelt flooding is very high for the Devils Lake Basin.
  • The threat is moderate to high, generally above the historical risk for most river points, somewhat higher still for eastern ND tributary points.
