North Ottawa Flood Damage Reduction Project

TheĀ North Ottawa project mitigates flood damages within the Rabbit River subwatershed and the lower parts of the Bois de Sioux watershed.

The project incorporatesĀ 16,000 acre feet of gate-controlled storage which is equivalent to 75% of the estimated 100 year spring runoff along with a variety of natural resources enhancements including wetland and shorebird habitat.

The North Ottawa project is the type of floodwater storage project that many water managers across the Red River Basin believe will serve as a model for future flood damage reduction projects in other parts of the Red River Basin.
