The Red River Basin relatively is flat and has low relief, so the demand for high resolution data is in high.  High resolution topographic data is often used in many different applications.  It can be used in hydrologic models, flood insurance studies, mapping, and other applications.  There are many different types of topographic data and at varying resolutions.  This page is designed to help locate and understand topographic data that has moderate to excellent topographic resolution.  Resolution is a loose term in data, in general it means the level of accuracy.  Topographic data that has spot elevations every 2 feet has a higher resolution than data with spot elevations every 10 feet.  For more information on a specific type of topographic data, please click on one of the topics.  There is also a presentation by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers that compares various methods for collecting topographic data.

There are also examples of topographic data for the Red River Basin.
