| Manitoba Freshwater Forum Takes Place February 18th
[Manitoba Clean Environment Commission Announcement]
On Tuesday, February 18th, 2003 the Manitoba Clean Environment Commission, Fisheries and Oceans Canada (Freshwater Institute), and Manitoba Conservation are sponsoring a public forum to discuss the current status and future of freshwater.
The objective of this free one-day forum will be to share perspectives on the many critical issues facing this resource in Canada and Manitoba.
The forum will include keynote addresses by Science Journalist Bob McDonald of CBC Radio's Quirks and Quarks, renowned researcher David Schindler of the University of Alberta, and Richard Coombe of the New York State Watershed Agricultural Council. In addition, a series of interactive workshops will feature contributions from a variety of local and national authorities on freshwater.
Premier Gary Doer will deliver remarks during the opening session. Manitoba Minister of Conservation, The Honourable Steve Ashton, will present the luncheon address.
The full-day event will take place at the Winnipeg Convention Centre.
