MN Governor Announces Over $7 Million in FEMA Grants
for Roseau, Lake Saint Croix Beach, and Rural Electric Co-ops

[Excerpts from Mar. 25 Governor Pawlenty News Release]
Today Governor Tim Pawlenty and U.S. Senator Norm Coleman announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) released more than $7 million to help the city of Roseau repair flood damage, help the city of Lake Saint Croix Beach prevent flood damage, and help rural electric cooperatives minimize power outages.

- $2 million to the city of Roseau to cover the cost of sanitary sewer repairs and road repairs from damage caused by spring flooding in 2002. These funds are available due to President Bush's disaster declaration issued on June 14, 2002.

- $1.3 million to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety for projects to reduce potential flood damage to residences in the City of Lake St. Croix Beach. These funds are available through the Hazard Mitigation Grant program.

- Over $4 million to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety for projects to reduce the potential damage to electrical lines and long-term power outages caused by severe storms. The funds will go to twelve non-profit rural electric utility service areas throughout Minnesota to bury electrical power lines.
