ND Health Dept. Issues Permit for Devils Lake Outlet

[Aug. 22nd ND Health Department News Release]
The North Dakota Department of Health today issued a North Dakota Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit to the North Dakota State Water Commission for an outlet on Devils Lake.

The permit, which will expire June 30, 2008, allows discharge of surface water from the West Bay of Devils Lake to assist in addressing flooding concerns in the Devils Lake Basin while ensuring water quality and maintaining beneficial uses of the Sheyenne and Red River systems. The permit has been written to allow the outlet to operate during the open-water season from May through November and to release water at a maximum rate of 100 cubic feet per second.
