Corps Releases Draft Reorganization Plan
[Excerpts from Aug. 26th USACE HQ News Release]
The US Army Corps of Engineers has released a draft reorganization plan today that will improve operations throughout the organization. Most of the structural changes will occur at the Washington and regional offices. The Corps will take comments until Sep. 8.
"We have been through an extensive process with our employees, partners, customers and those we serve, and we are very close to finalizing a plan, " said Lt. Gen. Robert B Flowers, Chief of Engineers. "This is not so much about the Corps as it is about serving our stakeholders, customers, partners and ultimately the American people better."
The plan recommends the establishment of teams in the Washington Office to represent the Corps eight regional offices. These teams will be able to respond to issues that need resolution and expedite reviews and paperwork through the system. The plan also recommends other organizational changes that build on a project management and multi-disciplined team approach.
The plan does not call for any closing of offices at the district, regional or Washington level. General Flowers hopes to begin implementing parts of the new organization during October.
